Here are some ABRSM aural test resources to help to achieve highly in this part of the exam.
Aural tests are marked out of 18 in the exam (the whole exam is marked out of 150) so they are worth 12% of the overall mark. They really can make all the difference between each grade (pass, merit and distinction) and are therefore worth practising as much as possible.
RECOMMENDED WEBSITE
All of my students use this website to practice for their aural tests. You do have to pay to subscribe (but only £3.99 a month) so I advise to sign up about 3 months before the exam and then cancel your subscription until your next exam! There is one free test per grade which you can access by clicking the button below.
If you’re lucky enough to own an Iphone or Ipad, you can download the ABRSM app. This is one of the ABRSM aural test resources. It costs £7.99 to purchase but the first app takes you from grades 1 to 5 and the second app takes you from grades 6 to 8, so is well worth the money. You can find out more about the app by visiting this page:
Personally, I think these are great books! They explain exactly how to answer the aural tests in an exam. They contain practice test questions (with music notation so they can be played on the piano) and have answers at the back to check you are completing them correctly. You can purchase them from Amazon (just click a book cover and it will take you there).
