For piano lessons, will I need a piano on which to practice?
Definitely! But don’t worry, they don’t need to cost the earth. Lots of my students have acquired second hand digital pianos on Facebook Marketplace or Ebay for around £100 – £150. The thing you need to look out for is if the piano has weighted keys with ‘Hammer Action’. This means that the weight and action of the keys resembles an acoustic piano. Plastic keyboards do not have weighted keys and they generally have far fewer notes than a piano. Learning on a plastic keyboard is actually detrimental to your technique.
Do you enter students for exams?
The majority of my students take exams (ABRSM) but you don’t have to do exams. It’s absolutely fine to learn for fun!
What is the exam pass rate?
I usually enter around 6 – 8 students every exam season but I have been known to enter as many as 13 in one season! Every student who has ever taken an ABRSM with Serenity Music Tuition has passed. This includes practical, performance and theory ABRSM examinations. Approximately 80% of these students achieve a merit or distinction. You can find out more about ABRSM exams by clicking here.

Where is Serenity Music Tuition based?
I am based in Bromborough, Wirral.
Can parents stay with their child for their lesson?
Of course! Lots of parents stay for lessons, and this can actually be helpful so they can support their child with practising at home. If you prefer to drop your child off, I also have lots of parents who do this too. Some parents sit outside in their car and then come in for the last 10 minutes for a quick catch up. I offer an open-door policy and parents can come and go as they see fit.
How is lesson payment organised?
I invoice for lessons attended at the end of each month. I do not require payment up front. You only pay for lessons attended.
Do you have a current DBS?
Yes, I am police cleared through DBS and I also have full insurance.
