This chapter introduces keys and key signatures for grade 1 theory. You need to understand:


  • The key of C major
  • The key of G major
  • The key of D major
  • The key of F major

  • The key of C major has no sharps or flats in its key signature
  • The key of G major has an F# in its key signature
  • The key of D major has an F# and a C# in its key signature
  • The key of F major has a Bb in its key signature
